Privacy

Poppivo is a mobile gaming startup making LOOP, a feed of tiny games you can play in the browser at /play. This policy covers:

• the poppivo.com website, including the blog;
• the launch news list (our newsletter);
• LOOP in your browser, including the parts that are coming soon.

Anyone can use the site and LOOP. There is no minimum age.

Joining the launch list is optional. You can play LOOP without it.

We use double opt-in. After you sign up, we send you a confirmation email, and you join the list only after you confirm. After that, you may get occasional Poppivo launch news and product updates. Signing up does not create an account or reserve a purchase.

When you sign up, we store:

• your email address;
• the consent wording you agreed to and its version;
• the times you signed up, confirmed and, if you do, unsubscribed.

Every email has an unsubscribe link. No sign-in is needed. Your email is not sold and is not added to unrelated mailing lists.

Like any website, our server receives technical request information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for. We use it to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems.

Forms on the site, like the launch list sign-up, are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks device and browser signals to tell people from bots. We also count recent requests in our server’s memory for a few minutes to limit automated abuse. We don’t store your IP address with your sign-up.

The site has no advertising cookies and no marketing analytics. Your theme and motion preferences are stored in your browser’s local storage and are not sent to us.

When you play LOOP at /play, your saved games, records, history and settings are kept on your device, in your browser’s storage. They are not sent to us.

You control this data in LOOP Settings:

• Export downloads a copy of your local data.
• Reset local data erases it from this device.

Private browsing or clearing your browser’s site data can also remove it.

LOOP accounts and creating are not open yet. This section describes how they will work, so you know before you decide to use them. You will never need an account to play.

When accounts open, you’ll sign in to LOOP with Firebase Authentication, a Google service. When you sign in, we’ll receive an account identifier, your email address and your display name if you provide one. We use these to run your account and to keep your progress, friends and games together.

Creators will use Sign in with ChatGPT to make games on their own device with Poppivo’s engine. From that sign-in, we expect to receive only what we need to recognise you, such as an account identifier and your email address. We don’t receive your ChatGPT conversations.

We’ll update this page with the final details before accounts or creating open.

Publishing is not open yet. When it is, a game you publish to the LOOP feed will be public. Anyone can play it.

Published games are served from a content delivery network (CDN), so copies are stored on servers in different places to load quickly. Each game is credited to you by your display name, and you choose whether other people can remix it.

If you remove a game or delete your account, we remove the game from the feed and the CDN. Copies cached by the CDN or by players’ browsers can take a short time to clear.

These features arrive with LOOP accounts and are not open yet. Any players you see on the site today are samples.

Once accounts open, other people may be able to see:

• your display name and avatar;
• your scores and leaderboard positions;
• the games you’ve played and published.

Your email address is never shown to other players. We’ll explain the visibility settings before these features open.

We use a small number of providers to run Poppivo. They process data for us, only to provide their service:

• Our own hosting server runs the website.
• Cloudflare provides DNS and a content delivery network, and runs Turnstile bot checks on our forms.
• Listmonk, mailing list software we run on Poppivo’s own mail server, manages the launch news list and sends the double opt-in confirmation.
• Resend sends transactional emails, like the link to confirm a deletion request.
• Firebase Authentication (Google) will handle sign-in when LOOP accounts open.

Some of these providers may process data in countries other than yours.

• Unconfirmed launch list sign-ups are removed after a short period.
• Confirmed email addresses are kept while you are subscribed.
• After you unsubscribe, we may keep a minimal record of your choice so we respect it and don’t email you again.
• Server logs are kept for a short period, typically up to 30 days, for security.
• Data kept in your browser stays on your device until you reset it or clear your browser data.
• When you ask us to delete your data, we do it promptly.

You can see, correct or delete the information we hold about you. Go to Delete your data to:

• Delete your email record. Enter your email and we’ll send you a signed link that lasts 24 hours. Open it and press the button to delete your email, consent wording and timestamps.
• Erase LOOP data in your browser. Use Reset local data in LOOP Settings. You can Export a copy first.
• Delete your LOOP account. This arrives with accounts (coming soon).

To stop emails without deleting your record, use the unsubscribe link in any Poppivo email.

For anything else, email farhan@poppivo.com. Your rights can depend on where you live, and we’ll help whatever they are.

There is no minimum age for the site or LOOP. Playing in the browser needs no personal information, and the launch list needs only an email address.

We don’t knowingly collect more information from children than we need to provide the service.

If you are a parent or guardian and think your child has given us personal information, email farhan@poppivo.com and we’ll delete it.

We’ll update this page when our practices change, including before accounts, creating and friends open. The date at the top shows when it last changed.

If a change affects how we use your email, we’ll tell you by email before it applies.
